How to Choose a Great Ecommerce Template

Choosing a template is one of the most important parts of setting up your eCommerce store. When looking for a template to choose, you’re picking your store’s identity.

The first judgment a customer makes of your website is going to be on the look of the store, and a great template will no doubt make this judgment a positive one. It will also affect how much a customer trusts your site. Here we’re going to list some tips for making sure that you get the perfect template for your site.

Tip 1: Choose a Responsive Template

Tip 2: Make Sure it’s Modern

Ever come across a website that looks like a time capsule of the 1990’s? Don’t be that site! Selecting a template that’s going to place you in this century will help build trust, and make sure you don’t need to update your template within a couple of months.

Most templates you find these days are probably going to be modern, but it’s always important to keep this in mind. You’ll save time and money in the future, and you’ll have a great looking site.

Tip 3: Make it Your Own

When you choose and install a template, you’re just going to get a basic looking site. But you need to give your website its own identify. For example, change colors to match your logo, and change fonts to match your style.

Having a site that looks very uninspiring isn’t going to encourage your customers to purchase products from you. Adding your own images to the homepage, adding about sections, and other content will help change your template from a stock one, to a template with your own branding.

Tip 4: Make Sure it’s Easy to Work With

Before you invest your time setting up and modifying a template, you should investigate to make sure that it is going to be easy to modify in the future. The easiest way to do this is to read up on the reviews for the template. If you see a template with great rankings, then odds are that it is fine in terms of design.

But if you see people complaining, or mentioning that the template is tough to update, then it might be a good idea to give it a second thought. Templates that are complicated to work with are going to eat up more of your time, and if you need to hire a developer to make updates to the template, this will be an additional cost.

Tip 5: You Can Get a Custom Designed Template

If you’re not finding a template that is going to fit your brand, or you have no idea what a branded template will look like, then don’t be afraid to get a custom designed one.

Custom designed templates are going to give you the best brand design and you’re going to know that everything is going to be setup and designed to fit your needs.
