Trust in Business

I’ve been reading a few articles over at Duct Tape Marketing, and a particular one caught my eye: The Trust Factor.

Trust is difficult to come by. In personal relationships it can take years to develop a level of trust that allows someone to be comfortable with you. In the professional world, you do not have years to develop that bond, but you need to have the same level of trust in order to conduct business the right way.

Something I really liked from the article was the fact that it mentions Corporate American and how it is at an all time low. Granted, the article is from over a year ago, it still holds truth. Anything corporate scares people away and that is due to the practices and policies that Corporate America has instilled in consumers.

That fear that consumers feel is due to a fear that the companies have. Companies fear that anything negative will entice their consumers away. If they let people know when their is a problem, it may provoke anger or spark negative comments. Personally, if a company is able to let me know there is a problem before I even know there is one, it makes me trust them more. It shows that they are putting my feelings before their own and want to keep me informed.

The article explains in more detail about building trust with clients and I’ve already passed it to all of the Border7 staff. Hopefully we will continue to nurture the level of trust our clients have with us and build new relationships with anyone new.
