Thumbs up for the singularity. As long as they don't do an "import skynet":

My guess is that you will be able to have wikipedia in your brain much sooner. Right now you can buy a 64 Gig SSD for $164 from newegg (Note that this SSD is much faster than a hard drive for random access):

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220342

Two years ago that would have been unheard of. And two years from now you will be able to buy a 256Gig one for that price. And a 1024Gig one for that price in 5 years.

Also: If you graph out the rate that computer speed grows, your average $1,000 machine will be as smart as a human by 2024. Here is a nice graph to demonstrate:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PPTExponentialGrowthof_Computing.jpg

It is from this wikipedia article:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_Accelerating_Returns

Then I wonder how many machines will be using the Internet.

This is a good post. I'd be interested in your thoughts on the technological singularity. :)

That's really insane to think about. After all when we were still young computers were barely around, much less used on a regular basis. Now I can't imagine my life without a computer helping me with many of my everyday needs.

It's insane to think that MORE people could use the internet.... it feels like everyone already does to some capacity....
